Mr. Anthony Paul Petrilli of Wilmington, North Carolina was born on July 20, 1933, in Kings, NY, and passed away on May 25, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington, North Carolina, completing his journey of 90 years.
Tony was the youngest of his siblings. He was born to Italian immigrants who came over from Calabria, Italy. He went to catholic school and was an altar boy. He was very athletic and enjoyed participating in boxing, football, and hockey. After high school, he became an electrical engineer, where he worked for the same company for 36 years. It was there where he met his future wife and they later had two daughters. After he retired he became a football coach for the freshman football team at the catholic high school, St. Anthony’s. He continued to coach both football and lacrosse until he was 80 years old. Tony was well loved as a coach. Tony moved to Wilmington to be close to his daughters in 2018. He was well loved in his assisted living community and stayed busy in activities, making birdhouses with his grandson and sitting on the porch listening to music with his daughters.
He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Marie Petrilli and Elaine Johnsen and her husband William Johnsen and their children Thomas Johnsen and Ashe Johnsen and Ashe’s fiancée, Bunny Wiggins, along with a host of friends.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at All Saints Catholic Church, 18737 US Hwy 17 N., Hampstead, NC.
