Anya Tomeka Owens-Ray

It is profound sadness that we announce the passing of Anya Tomeka Owens-Ray. She was the treasured daughter of Mary Owens & Pervis Ray Owens Sr. 

Anya Tomeka Owens-Ray was born on June 6, 1980, in Cumberland County, NC. She was called home at the tender age of 46, on June 28, 2026, in Fayetteville, NC. 

Anya was talkative, energetic, family oriented, and a loving, supportive, hard-working mother. She loved to drive buses, and she loved to make sure everyone was taken care of. 

Anya attended Lakewood High School. She then went on to work various jobs, but her passion was anything dealing with driving. In her early life she was a very athletic person. She loved to play basketball, softball, and she later developed a passion for biking and trail riding. 

Preceding her in death are her fraternal grandparents, Lorrine & David Owens, maternal grandparent, Jim McLean, and brother, Pervis Ray Owens, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories, two sons, Jawan Owens of Fayetteville, NC, Materio Owens of Charlotte, NC, two daughters, Noelle & Stelle Rich of Fayetteville, NC, maternal grandmother, Delphine Corbett of Philadelphia, PA, one grandchild, Josiah Owens, one god-daughter, Kh-Veah Corbett, two sisters, Anita Owens of Fayetteville, NC, and Charmaine Smith of Charlotte, NC, one brother, Trevor Owens of Roseboro, NC, a host of aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Anya had many friends but a few friends we knew that were very special to her were Charlie Davis, Frenzie Jackson, Linda, and Becky Sledge.

A Viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, from 1:00-6:00 PM, at Carter Funeral Home, 111 N. Ingold Ave, Garland, NC. The family will be present from 5:00-6:00 PM to receive friends. 

A Funeral Service will be at 1:00 PM, Thursday, July 9, 2026, at the First Baptist Church Roseboro, 412 Johnson St., Roseboro, NC.

Interment to follow the service at the Roseboro-Snow Hill Cemetery, Roseboro, NC.
