Barbara A. Mulwee Imes

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Carter Funeral Home, 111 N. Ingold Ave., Garland, NC 28441. Reverend Willie Earl Imes and Reverend Harris Wallace will be officiating the service. Interment to follow in the Jumping Run Cemetery, Mckoy Loop Road, Ivanhoe, NC 28447.

Mrs. Barbara A. Mulwee Imes, 81, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC. Her family rejoices that she is now free from pain and reunited with those who went before her.

Barbara was born on December 24, 1944, in Brooklyn, New York, to JD and Eddie Mae Mulwee. Barbara attended Prospect Heights school and Sarah S. Hale Vocational HS.  Barbara also attended Brooklyn College and Hudson Community College (Jersey City, NJ). 

Barbara then moved to Jersey City, NJ, and worked for the Board of Education until 2011 when she retired.

Barbara married Harris (Pete) Imes on August 23, 2008. They were inseparable for 18 years, creating lasting memories and a beautiful bond together. Barbara and Harris moved to Fayetteville, NC in 2017.

Barbara was a beloved stepmother to Carl Sims (Jersey City, NJ) and caring Godmother to Kevin Murph (his wife Marcia) deceased of Lancaster, PA.  Barbara was a dear sister to Sylvester Blastingcain (deceased). Barbara will be deeply missed, she is survived by her husband Harris (Pete) Imes, her mother-in-law, Ms. Lillian Imes, her sister-in-law Verlene Lalta, (her husband Ricky Lalta), her sister-in-law Anne Ruth Brothers, her brothers-in-law: Arthur Imes, Willie Earl Imes (his wife Ruthel Imes), Frankie Imes, (his wife Jahalia Imes) and Larry Imes. Her step aunt Minnie Robinson (her husband Allen Robinson), aunt Gennell Devane. A host of cousins: Harry Land (in Georgia), Melvin Tobe (Brooklyn, NY), Dimitris Daniels (Jersey City, NJ), and Val Daniels (Jersey City, NJ).  Her close and special friends: Ronell Marion-Greeson, Louise Addison, Gloria Lyles, Dr. Patricia Peterson, and Dante Mack.  A host of 20-stepchildren, 28 step-grandchildren and 9 step-great grandchildren.
