Barbara A. Mulwee Imes

Mrs. Barbara A. Mulwee Imes, 81, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC. Her family rejoices that she is now free from pain and reunited with those who went before her.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Carter Funeral Home, 111 N. Ingold Ave., Garland, NC 28441. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, from 12:00-1:00 PM. Reverend Willie Earl Imes and Reverend Harris Wallace will be officiating the service. Interment to follow in the Jumping Run Cemetery, McKoy Loop Road, Ivanhoe, NC 28447.

Barbara was born on December 24, 1944, in Brooklyn, New York, to JD and Eddie Mae Mulwee. Barbara attended Prospect Heights school & graduated from Brooklyn College. Barbara then moved to Jersey City, NJ, and worked for the Board of Education until 2011, when she retired.

Barbara married Harris Imes on August 23, 2008. They were inseparable for 18 years, creating lasting memories and a beautiful family together. Barbara and Harris moved to Fayetteville, NC, in 2017.

She was a beloved stepmother to Carl Sims (Jersey City, NJ) and caring Godmother to Kevin Murphy (Brooklyn, NY). Barbara was a dear sister to Sylvester Blastingcain (deceased). Barbara will be deeply missed, she is survived by her mother-in-law, Ms. Lillian Imes, her sister-in-law Verlene Lalta, (her husband Ricky Lalta), her sister-in-law Anne Ruth Brothers, her brothers-in-law: Arthur Imes, Willie Earl Imes (his wife Ruthel Imes), Frankie Imes, (his wife Jahalia Imes) and Larry Imes. Her step aunt Minnie Robinson (her husband Allen Robinson), aunt Gennell Devane. A host of cousins and Her stepchildren: Elliot King, Louis Sims (deceased), Jacquelyn Sims, & Keisha Sims (deceased), Harris Wallace, (his wife Kimberly Wallace), Belinda Smith (her husband Patrick Smith) Stephen Imes, Rondell Imes (his wife Natasha Imes), Jermaine Imes (his wife Michele Imes), Brandon Imes (his wife Shaleka Imes), preceded in death (Priscilla Crawford), Patrina Crawford, Lendell Crawford, Gerard Crawford, Paula Dickson (her husband Tyrone Dickson) 28 step-grandchildren and 9 step-great grandchildren.
