Charles Hester Barnes

Charles Hester Barnes, born May 25, 1962, in Bladen County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, at his residence in Bladen County. He was a cherished son, brother, and friend whose life left a meaningful mark on all who knew him.

Charles was the beloved son of the late Charlie Hoover Barnes and Matilda Jane Gilmore Barnes. He was also predeceased by his brother, Mitchell Barnes. 

Leaving behind to honor his memory are his sister, Lisa Long, and her husband, Elroy, of Garland, NC, as well as his brother, Thomas "Ray" Barnes of Garland, NC. The bonds he shared with his family were a source of strength and comfort throughout his life.

A visitation to celebrate Charles’s life will be held on June 11, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Beards Chapel, located at 409 Beards Chapel Loop Road, Garland, NC. Following this, the burial service will take place at the same location from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The interment will conclude the day’s services at Beards Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, 7626 U.S. 701 Highway, Elizabethtown, NC.
