Charles Junior Smith, known affectionately as CJ, passed away on June 18, 2025, at Bladen County in Elizabethtown, North Carolina. He was born on July 1, 1982, in Clinton, North Carolina, and spent much of his life in the surrounding areas.
CJ graduated from East Bladen High School in Elizabethtown, NC, where he laid the foundation for a life that would be marked by warmth, humor, and a tenacious spirit. His friends and family remember him fondly for his favorite saying, "The Money is Good," which often reflected his lighthearted approach to life's challenges.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at Millers Chapel AME Zion Church, 855 Old Fayetteville Rd., Garland, NC, by the Rev. Arno Peterson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He leaves behind his beloved sister, Nashea Stewart of Garland, NC, and his brother, Jamal Smith, also of Garland, NC, who both cherished their time with him and will hold onto the memories they shared. He also leaves to cherish his memories his aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives & friends.
CJ's passing leaves a void for those who knew him, especially as he was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Smith and Mary Smith, and his sister, Mary B. McKoy.
The public will be received on Friday, June 27, 2025, from 1:00 P.M.-5:00 P.M. at Carter Funeral Home in Garland, NC
