Charlie Tanner, born on December 18, 1961, in Sampson County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, in the same beloved county where he spent his life. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, family devotion, and love for life.
Throughout his career, Charlie was known as a laborer in many various fields of work, embodying the spirit of perseverance and determination. He approached every task with dedication and integrity, earning the respect of his colleagues and peers.
Charlie’s greatest joy came from his deep love for his family. He cherished the moments spent with them, often inspiring those around him with stories of freedom and life well-lived. His personality radiated warmth and kindness, making him a treasured companion and confidant to many.
He leaves behind his son, Charlie Tanner Jr., along with brothers Alton Tanner Jr. and Frank Tanner, and sisters Susan Lewis, Lisa Lockwood, and Cher Brown. Each of these family members carries a piece of Charlie's spirit and memory forward.
In addition to his parents, Alton and Marie Tanner, Charlie is preceded in death by his sister, Lacie Wilson, who will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew and loved them both.
