Dale Lee Murphy, 58, of Fayetteville, NC, passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC. He was the 4th child and baby born to Eugene Murphy Sr. and Jerlene Murphy. He Confessed in Christ at an early age and grew into a Godly man who walked with purpose.
Dale was raised in Harrells, North Carolina and graduated from East Bladen High School Class of 1987. After graduation, Dale took the oath and joined the U.S. Marine Corp. During active-duty Dale earned many commendations to include Good Conduct Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal (w/2 stars), Rifle Marksman Badge, and Pistol Marksman Badge. He served his country well.
Dale worked in many capacities to include brick laying and logging. However, his passion was trucking. He loved driving and could tell you everything you need to know about a truck. Dale was hardworking, humorous, and caring. He was going to make sure his family was taken care of. He loved family gatherings. He especially loved going to Western Sizzlin in Dunn to celebrate family birthdays. He loved and respected his wife, his mother Jerlene, his sister Barbara, and his brother Eugene Jr.
Dale was a very supportive and active husband and father. Outside of the home he served in many capacities such as Steward at Murphy Chapel AME Church of Harrells, North Carolina, served as First Gentleman beside his wife in ministry, as treasurer of Amos Lodge #778, and Worthy Patron of Daughters of Deborah #8. Dale enjoyed traveling, going to the racetrack, and sports with his favorite teams New York Yankees, Dallas Cowboys, and UNC Tarheels.
Dale is preceded in death by his father Eugene Murphy Sr., his brother Roland Murphy, and his bonus son Jack Glass Jr.
Dale is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Yolanda Michelle Murphy of Fayetteville, North Carolina, four children~ Son Anthony Murphy of Willard, North Carolina, Daughter Dalesha Murphy of Rose Hill, North Carolina, Bonus Son Kyri Duck of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Chase Murphy of Fayetteville, North Carolina. Two Grandchildren~ Jordan and Brooke. His Mother Jerlene Murphy of Harrells, North Carolina, Sister Barbara Murphy of Harrells, North Carolina, Brother Eugene (Rena) Murphy Jr. of Garland, North Carolina, and a host of in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, aunt, and friends.
A Viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 05, 2025, at Carter Funeral Home, 111 N. Ingold Ave., Garland, NC, from 1:00-6:00 PM, with the family present from 5:00-6:00 PM.
A Funeral Service will be held at Noon, on Thursday, November 06, 2025, at St. Luke AME Church, 522 Hillsboro St., Fayetteville, NC.
Interment will take place at Noon, on Friday, November 07, 2025, at the Murphy Cemetery, Murphy Town Road, Harrells, NC.
