Debbie Ann Jernigan, a beloved matriarch and a cherished friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing her, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026, in Fayetteville, NC, at the age of 69. Born on December 14, 1956, in Dunn, NC, Debbie was a vibrant spirit who touched countless lives with her kindness and warmth.
Throughout her life, Debbie dedicated herself to her family as a devoted homemaker. Her personality was a testament to her welcoming nature; she never met a stranger and brought joy to everyone around her. Whether it was through her laughter, comforting words, or caring gestures, Debbie embodied what it meant to be a true friend and matriarch. To many, she was lovingly known as 'Nana,' a title she wore with pride and affection.
Debbie is survived by her two daughters, Regina Capps and her husband Jamie of White Lake, NC, and Chelsea Powers and Dirielle Allen of Dunn, NC. Her family also includes a daughter-in-law, Shavante McNeill, grandchildren: Zacharie Kauffeld, Roni Lowery, Andre Allen, Jaiden Allen, Madyson Allen, and Makenzley Allen, great-grandchildren: Ava Grace Wood, and Chloe Rae Kauffeld. Additionally, she leaves behind her brother, Michael Jernigan of White Lake, NC, along with numerous other family members and friends, both near and far, who will miss her dearly.
Debbie is preceded in death by her parents, Franklin and Shelba Jernigan, and her brother, Kenny Jernigan. Their love and legacy live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
As we remember Debbie, we celebrate a life that was lived fully and generously, reflecting the beauty of love and connection she fostered in her family and community. Her memory will forever remain in the laughter shared, the lessons taught, and the hearts she filled with joy.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, March 13, 2026, at Carter Funeral Home, 111 N. Ingold Ave., Garland, NC. The family will meet friends at Carter Funeral Home, from 1:00-2:00 PM, before the service on Friday, March 13, 2026.
