Elaine Rich Carroll, 77, of Garland, NC, passed away September 10, 2025, in Goldsboro, NC. She was born January 4, 1948, to the late Eddis and Mildred Rich. She was a 1966 graduate of Garland High School. She married her high school sweetheart, William Elworth Carrol on August 28, 1966.
She enjoyed meeting and working with people within the community during her 46 years with the banking industry, to which she retired.
She attended Garland PFWB Church since she was a small child. She served as a Sunday school teacher and choir director for many years.
She was anchored strong in her faith in Christ and was eager to share the gospel with others.
She enjoyed gatherings with family and friends over the years.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Eddis and Mildred Rich, sister and brother-in-law: Viola and Bobby Marshall, and brother-in-law: Franklin A. Carroll.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years: William Elworth Carroll of the home, daughter: Faith Dixon and husband Lawrence of Garland, brother: EC Rich and wife Connie of Garland, sister-in-law: Sharon Carroll of Roseboro, three grandchildren: Alyssa Hernan and husband Will of Clinton, Savannah Dixon and Kevin Williams of Garland, Nicole Reedy and husband Tyler of Rural Hall, four great-grandchildren: Camden Jackson, Sophia Hernan, Abigail Hernan, Amelia Hernan, and a host of nieces and nephews.
We would like to express our deepest appreciation to the medical care teams that went above and beyond the call of service. They are UNC Oncology Team of Chapel Hill, Clinton Medical Clinic, SEMOC, SRMC hospitalist, nurses and staff, 3HC, and Kitty Askins.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 3 PM at Garland PFWB Church, 475 W. Second St., Garland, NC. The family will greet visitors at 2 PM in the fellowship hall. Interment to follow at the Garland Cemetery. Officiating the ceremony is the Reverend Jeff Testerman, Reverend Chubby Reiber, and Reverend Dewey Ball.
