Elma Lois Boatwright Ingram, 89, of Clinton, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at the Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, NC.
Elma was born on July 26, 1936, to the late Homer and Bertha Boatwright in Dothan, Alabama. Elma was educated through the Dothan City School System. She then built a long career in New Jersey, including a notable tenure at Planned Parenthood. Elma was a devoted member of Garland First Baptist Church, where she led the Kitchen Ministry until she became ill.
Elma was married to Joshua, the love of her life for over fifty years. Elma was preceded in death by her husband, Joshua Ingram, two sisters, Katie Salters, Helen Davison, brother, Foy Edward Thomas, and god-sister, Marie Davis.
Elma leaves to cherish her memory, her sisters, Dorothy Anderson, Carla Boatwright Watson and Ann Marie Boatwright; brother, Marty H. Boatwright; four sisters-in-law, Mamie Thomas, Bertha Ingram, Odessa Williams and Paula Farrior Griffin; nine nephews, Anthony Salters, Keith Salters, Cecil C. Davison, Foy Edward Thomas III, Johnathan Thomas, Mason Thomas, Kentavious Watson, Bakari Boatwright and Trey Boatwright; six nieces, Dorotia Williams, Giana Thomas, Andrina Hires, Maya Thomas, Talesha Watson and Meosha Henderson; three god-daughters, Fonda Dortch-Taylor, Andrea Underwood and Pamela Salters; a special cousin-in-law, Winsor Ingram, and a host of grandnieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 1:00-2:00 PM, at Garland First Baptist Church, 227 E. 4th St., Garland, NC. The Memorial Service will begin at 2:00 PM. The Reverend Dr. Louis Hackett will be officiating the service.
