Eloise Norris

Eloise Norris, beloved seamstress and cherished family member, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025, in Bladen County, North Carolina, at the age of 85. Born on July 17, 1940, in Sampson County, NC, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who touched the lives of many during her lifetime.

Eloise spent many years dedicated to her craft as a seamstress at the Garland Shirt Factory, where she skillfully created garments with love and precision. Her attention to detail and passion for sewing exemplified her commitment to her work and her community.

She is survived by her daughter, JoAnn Dabbs and husband Paul of Bladenboro; her son, Ronnie Norris and wife Elaine of Garland; her granddaughter, Kimberly Dabbs of Bladenboro; and her four great-grandchildren, Kaylee Dabbs, Haley Peedin, Caleb Peedin, and Ariana Faison. Eloise also leaves behind three sisters, Diane Jernigan and husband "Billy" of Garland, Susan Beasley and husband Ray of White Lake, and Carrie Lee Segar of Roseboro. Her four brothers, Travis Cain, Thomas Cain and wife Diane, Donnie Cain and wife Teresa, and James "Buddy" Cain, all of Garland, mourn her passing.

Eloise is preceded in death by her husband, William McCoy Norris; her parents, Adrian Cain and Annie Leon Strickland Cain; and four brothers, Bennie Cain, Teddy Cain, Willie Ray Cain, and Baby Cain.

Family and friends are invited to honor Eloise's memory during a visitation on August 28, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Carter Funeral Home in Garland, NC. The funeral service will take place on August 29, 2025, at 2:00 PM, followed by interment at Garland Cemetery at 3:15 PM.

Eloise Norris will be remembered not only for her talents as a seamstress but also for the love and warmth she shared with her family and friends. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she inspired and cherished.
