Eva Mae Smith, born on January 1, 1936, in Duplin County, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025, in Davidson County, NC. A cherished member of her community and a dedicated professional, Eva spent her career in the furniture industry, where she worked with unwavering commitment in the shipping department.
Eva is remembered by her loving family, which includes her children: Wanda Bryant of Rose Hill, NC; Linda Jarrett of Lexington, NC; Loretta Greene and her husband Rudy of Lexington, NC; Lorena Luffman and her husband Randy of Teachey, NC; and Reverend William "Billy" Cooper, Jr. and his wife Janice of Bolivia, NC. She also leaves behind a legacy of love with 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces and nephews who will carry her spirit forward.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Katie Garvey, her beloved daughter Alice Faye Gillen, and her siblings: Earl Gravey, JB Gravey, and Mary Ann Morrell, as well as two grandsons. Each of these relationships was essential to Eva, shaping her into the extraordinary woman she was.
The memory of Eva Mae Smith will be honored through a series of services at the Gospel Fellowship Holiness in Castle Hayne, NC. Visitation will take place on December 18, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service starting at 11:00 AM. Following the service, Eva will be laid to rest at Smith Cemetery in Harrells, NC.
Eva's warm heart, generous spirit, and dedication to her family and work will remain vivid in the hearts and minds of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She will be deeply missed yet fondly remembered for the love and kindness she extended to all those around her.
