Geneva Highsmith Townsend

 Geneva Highsmith Townsend, 89, of 89 Townsend Rd. Garland, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025.

Geneva was born on October 20, 1935, in Bladen Co.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie Townsend, sister, Annie Shaw, and grandson, Shawn Terrell Graham.

The Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 12:00 P.M. (NOON)  at  The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, 718 Airport Rd., Garland, NC. by Deacon Leander Owens.  Burial will follow in the Owens Cemetery, (Hwy. 210 E) Parkway Ave., Garland, NC.

Geneva is survived by her daughter, Retha D. Graham of Garland, two sisters, Eunice Beatty of Harrells, and Rachel Fryar of Clinton, NC, one grandson, William "DJ" Darnell Graham of Garland, and a host of nieces and nephews.

The public will be received on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 1:00-6:00 P.M. with family present from 5:00 P.M. -6:00 P.M. at Carter Funeral Home in Garland.

The family will be receiving friends at the home of Retha Graham, 3727 NC Hwy. 210 West, Garland, NC
