Gladys (Davis) Townsend

Mrs. Gladys Davis Townsend, 83, of 916 Davis Road, Garland, passed away on Monday, November 06, 2023, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, in Fayetteville.

Gladys was born September 22, 1940, in Marlboro County, SC, to the late Jefferson & Julia Cox Davis. In addition to her parents, Gladys is preceded in death by her husband: Charles Lynbryd Townsend, four siblings: Charles Linwood Townsend, Dan Ray Townsend, Johnnie Ray Townsend, Andreal Townsend, and one granddaughter: Vanessa Townsend.

A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM/Noon, Sunday, November 12, 2023, at Mt. Elam Missionary Baptist Church, 6869 NC Hwy 210 W., Garland. Reverend Dr. Shari Herring will be officiating the service. Interment to follow in the Owens Cemetery, 119 Parkway Ave., Garland.

Gladys leaves to cherish her memory six children: Lina Jackson of Garland, Jeffrey Townsend (Helen) of Fayetteville, Bobby Townsend (Wendy) of Garland, Diane Robinson (George Curtis) of Rose Hill, Jerome Townsend (Pandora) of Clinton, Vivian Townsend (JC) of Harrells, 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends in the community.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023, from 1:00-6:00 PM, at Carter Funeral Home in Garland.
