Johnnie Ray "Zero" Jackson

Jul 9, 1957 — Jun 13, 2026

Elizabethtown

Johnnie Ray “Zero” Jackson of White Lake, North Carolina, peacefully departed this life at home in his beloved man cave at the age of 68 on June 13, 2026, following a short but courageous battle with cancer.

He was born July 9, 1957, in Bladen County, NC, the loving son of Nellie Horne Jackson and Hubert Olin Jackson. Johnnie worked for many years with Carter Farms in the blueberry industry. He was a hard worker who enjoyed being outside tending to his home, pond, grapevines and sunflower fields and working with his tractor. He was an avid sportsman who especially loved dove hunting. Johnnie was a grill master and proud of his expertise and ability to perfectly prepare any type of meat to an exact temperature. He was known for his expectation of excellence from himself and his friends. As his friends loved to say: “there was square and then there was Jackson Square!” Johnnie was a proud Freemason and a member of Bladen Lodge #646. Affectionately known as Zero, Johnnie faithfully loved his family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by a nephew, Anthony Kyle Phillips, and his father-in law, Larry “Cornbread” Jernigan.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Tammy Jernigan Jackson; his faithful companion Jax who constantly remained by his side; his stepson Brandon Davis (Alyssa); Sister, Margaret Ann Martin; Mother-in-Law, Lucille Jernigan; Sister-in Law, Teressa Jernigan (James); Grandchildren, Jayden Davis and Elijah Davis; Niece, Samantha Phillips and son Jackson; and a special nephew whom he loved like a son, Jonathan McLaughlin (Gabby) and son Mason.

Johnnie knew that the true wealth of a man was not in material possessions, but in the friendships made along life’s journey. To that end, Johnnie Jackson was one of the richest men in Bladen County.
