Laura Linda Rice

Laura Linda Rice, a beloved homemaker born on March 8, 1938, in Robeson County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully in Cumberland County, North Carolina, on September 15, 2025, at the age of 87.

Laura was the cherished wife of Edwin G. Rice, who remains lovingly at their home. She is survived by her children, Mark Cain and his wife Abby of Harrells, North Carolina; Mike Rice of Elizabethtown, North Carolina; and Lisa Rice, also of Elizabethtown. Her legacy continues through her four grandchildren: Justin Andrews, Cody Cain, Tabi Cain, and Colt Cain; as well as her two great-grandchildren, Walter Andrews and Maddox Andrews.

Laura was a woman of exceptional warmth and a nurturing spirit. Known as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she never met a stranger. Those who encountered her found an immediate friend in her infectious personality. Laura had a zest for life that endeared her to many, and she was famed for her culinary skills, particularly her delightful pecan pies. She created a home filled with love, laughter, and delicious meals, making countless memories with her family and friends.

She is also survived by her siblings: Jerry Walters, Dick Walters, Bobby Walters, Bennett Walters, Brenda Bryan, and Mary Lee Walters, who will carry on her spirit of kindness and connection.

Laura is predeceased by her parents, Ralph and Zelma Walters, her daughter Tammy Andrews, as well as her brothers Gooley Walters and Gilbert Walters, and sister Shirley Fox.

A graveside service will be held on September 19, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery in White Oak, North Carolina, where friends and family will come together to honor her remarkable life and the joy she brought to all who knew her. Reverend Jim Woodruff will be officiating the service. She will be deeply missed, leaving behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire those who hold her memory close to their hearts.
