Leonard "Lent" "Skeet" DeVane

Leonard DeVane, fondly known by his nicknames "Lent" and "Skeet," was born on March 26, 1937, in Sampson County, North Carolina. He lived a life marked by dedication and service, particularly in the role of a security guard within the public school system, where he contributed to the safety and well-being of countless children and staff.

Leonard's journey came to a close on December 19, 2025, in his beloved Sampson County, leaving behind a legacy of commitment and care for his community. His work exemplified integrity and steadfastness, characteristics that profoundly impacted those who knew him.

In tribute to his life and memory, a Visitation will be held on December 23, 2025, at Keathern Baptist Church in Harrells, North Carolina, beginning at 11:00 AM, followed by the Funeral Service at 12:00 PM. Leonard will then be laid to rest in the church cemetery. Reverend Jeffrey Howard, Pastor will be officiating the service and Reverend Willie C. Alford, Friend and Caregiver will be the Eulogist.

As family, friends, and community members gather to celebrate his life, they will remember Leonard DeVane as a man who devoted himself wholeheartedly to the protection and support of others, embodying the spirit of service in every aspect of his life.
