Malcom Johnson, 86, passed away on September 1, 2026, at Novant Hospital in Wilmington, NC. God, Family, and Country were always important to Malcom. When he wasn't on a tractor working, Malcom loved to hunt on the farm with Red, his beloved pup. He served as a member of the North Carolina National Guard for 6+ years. Malcom retired from the Department of Correction after 31 years and 2 months. He had a landscaping business for 25+ years, too.

He leaves behind a beloved wife of 63 years, Shirley Johnson; 2 sisters: Melva "Faye" Smith and Melaine “Gayle” Braley of Fayetteville NC; 4 children: Dean Johnson, Sheila (Mike) Wells, Randy (Patty) Johnson, and E (Lauren) Johnson. Also, an abundance of grandchildren: Brandon (Dana) Wells, Andrew (Elizabeth) Wells, Shawn (Walter) Wells, Sarah (Daniel) Ferguson, Hannah Butler, Ryan "Hard Rock" (Lydia) Johnson, Jennifer Johnson, and great grandchildren: Littie and Silas Wells, Ella and Cooper Wells. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Johnson; mother, Melva Barnes Johnson; father, Tommy David Johnson; infant brother, Ray Johnson; brother, Paul Johnson and wife, Beverly, of California; daughter-in-law, Cindy Johnson; and brother-in-law, Ronald Smith.

Funeral Services will be held at A Touch Of Country Venue, 9700 NC-41E Harrells, NC, on Sunday September 6, 2026. The family will receive friends beginning at 2pm. The funeral will begin at 3pm, and then graveside service will follow at Sandhill Cemetery. The family would like to invite you to fellowship, with a meal provided, at A Touch Of Country venue following the graveside service.
