Margaret Cannady Barnes

Margaret Cannady Barnes, 93, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Friday,  July 25, 2025. at the Elizabethtown Nursing Center in Elizabethtown, NC.

Ms. Barnes was born in Sampson County, daughter of the late Amie Robert Cannady and Fannie Wyse Cannady.  She was preceded in death by her husband Otis Barnes, and her siblings, Vernie Cannady, Bud Cannady, Janie Cannady Sessoms, John A. Cannady, Ruby Cannady Tate,  Beulah Cannady Staten, Donnie Cannady, Oscar Cannady, and  Nellie Cannady Carroll, Brilla Cannady, Charlotte Cannady Edwards, and Shirley Cannady Tant. 

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025, at 5:00 P.M. at Beards Chapel Baptist Church,  409 Beards Chapel Loop Rd., Garland, NC, by the Reverend Ralph Carter Jr.   Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Ms. Barnes is survived by one daughter, Sonya B. Carter, husband, Ralph Carter Jr of White Lake, NC, one granddaughter, Channing Carter Miller and husband, Tyler Miller of Holly Springs, NC, one great-grandchild, Isaiah Carter Miller.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 28, 2025, at Beards Chapel Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, from 4:00 P.M.-4:50 P.M. before the service, and other times at the home of Ralph & Sonya Carter, 6504 US Hwy. 701 N., Elizabethtown, NC 28337.
