Margaret Ruth (Highsmith) Haire

Ms. Margaret Ruth Highsmith Haire, was born July 04, 1954, in Bladen County, NC, to the late Wade and Ida Lee Highsmith. She departed this life on Sunday, July 03, 2022, at her residence.

Margaret received her education at Bladen County Schools. Margaret moved to Philadelphia, PA in her young adult life. She had a heart of service and worked for many years as a Nursing Assistant at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Margaret is preceded in death by three brothers, Louis, James, and Jerry.

Margaret leaves to cherish her memories one son: Gary Highsmith of Elizabethtown, NC, ten grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She leaves eight sisters: Mary Highsmith of Philadelphia, PA; Joyce Autry (Leo) of Elizabethtown, NC; Patricia Beamon; Gloria Highsmith; Annie Owens (Leander) of Garland, NC; Anna Mitchell (Robert) of Raleigh, NC; Gwendylon Pridgen (Gregory) of Ivanhoe, NC; Darlene Melvin of Elizabeth City, NC, three brothers: Donald Highsmith of Fayetteville, NC; Dwight Highsmith of Elizabethtown, NC; and David Highsmith of Hopkinsville, KY. She also leaves four aunts along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM, Saturday, July 09, 2022, at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Garland. Deacon Leander Owens will be officiating the service.

A viewing will be held on Friday, July 08, 2022, from 1:00-6:00 PM, with the family present from 5:00-6:00 PM, at Carter Funeral Home in Garland.
