Obituary

Family was at the heart of everything Moises did.

With heavy and loving hearts, the family of Moises Luviano Torres mourn his passing on August 1, 2026, at Novant Health in Wilmington, North Carolina. Born on July 1, 1965, in San Pedrito, Michoacan, Mexico, Moises’s life was a journey marked by unwavering love for his family, a beautiful generosity of spirit, and a gentle strength evident in every path he walked.

Moises’s life was a testament to hard work, kindness, and devotion. As a dedicated professional in forestry, he played his part in stewarding the lands, nurturing both trees and the future with the same care and diligence he poured into his home and relationships. Outside of work, you would often find Moises tending to his vegetable garden, a quiet sanctuary that blossomed under his nurturing hands and reflected his patience and deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.

Family was at the heart of everything Moises did. He cherished his role as a loving husband to Margarita Serrano Baltazar, with whom he built a home filled with laughter, warmth, and shared dreams. Their bond was one of mutual respect and enduring affection, providing a model of partnership for generations to come.

Moises’s devotion was expressed most fully in his relationship with his children. He leaves behind his beloved son Moises Luviano Jr.; daughters Miriam Luviano-Serrano, Carolina Luviano, Jeanette Luviano- Serrano and Guadalupe Luviano-Serrano; and a son-in-law, Sylvester Morales. The love and guidance he poured into his children’s lives are reflected in their strength and character, a living legacy that will carry him forward always.

His eyes would light up at the sight of his grandchildren: Isabella Leslie Luviano, Sylvia Melissa Morales, Leonardo Colt Luviano, and Sebastian Enrique Morales. For Moises, these precious connections brought immense joy and purpose, and he took every opportunity to shower his grandchildren with love, laughter, and stories that will echo in their hearts for years to come.

Moises was known for his gentle manner and unassuming humor. He found delight in taking road trips with those he loved most, turning each journey into an adventure filled with fun, camaraderie, and a sense that together, every winding road led home. Friends and family alike recall his kindness, his willingness to help without hesitation, and the way his giving nature touched their lives in countless quiet ways.

He worked hard for what he believed in, approached every task with honesty and determination, and infused every relationship with warmth. Those privileged to know Moises were drawn to his funny, generous, and loving spirit—a mosaic of qualities that made him not only a loving father and grandfather but a true friend.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones to honor and remember Moises at a viewing on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Carter Funeral Home, 111 N Ingold Ave, Garland, NC.
