Myrtise Murphy

Myrtise was born January 27, 1944, to the late Clarence Cheek and Lizzie Cheek in Bladen County. Myrtise was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander Murphy, and daughter, Regina Henry, her siblings, WC Cheek, Vernie Cheek Melton, Mattie L. Murphy, Verlia Brady, Jesse Waldo Cheek, Easter Cheek, and Janice Manuel. They will forever be in our hearts.

Myrtise received Jesus Christ at Garland First Baptist Church, where she served as an usher for many years until her health declined. She graduated from Bladen Central High School in Elizabethtown, NC. She retired from the ABC Store in Garland, NC, and continued to work with her husband at Murphy Amoco until he retired. She liked to prepare many delicious meals and enjoyed baking cakes. Most of all she loved everyone, especially her children & grandchildren.

Myrtise leaves to cherish her memory, one son: Alexander Murphy, Jr. of Raleigh, one brother: James Curtis Cheek of New York, one brother-in-law: Bobbie Murphy (Clara), sisters-in-laws: Carolyn Holder (Warren); Margaret Merritt (Donald Wayne); Evelyn Murphy; Diane Murphy, 4 granddaughters: McKenzie Murphy; Yolanda Henry Flores (Marcos); Kayla Henry Flores (Mario); Keiona Henry , and 5 great-grandchildren: Harper Flores; Chance Flores; Mateo Flores; Aubrey Henry; Creed Flores, and numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends of the community.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 10:00-11:00 at Garland First Baptist Church, 227 4th St., Garland, NC.

The Funeral Service will start at 11:00 AM, on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Garland First Baptist Church, 227 4th St., Garland, NC.

Interment to follow at Cheek Cemetery, 4046 NC Hwy 210 E., Harrells, NC.
