Nolan Thomas Canady, 28, of Austin, Texas, and formerly of Garland, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, August 1, 2025. He was preceded in death by his father, Clayton Lamar Canady, his grandparents, James “Bo” and Peggy Davis, and Walter Canady, and an uncle, Stephen Gatyas.
Nolan is survived by his mother, Tracy Canady, two brothers, Clayton Canady and Nathan Tatum, and one sister, Savannah Tatum. He is also survived by his aunt and uncle, Laura and Marcus Peterson, another aunt, Caro Davis (Dean), three cousins, Gray Peterson, McKenzie Peterson, and Robert Davis, and his grandmother, Eva Canady.
Nolan grew up in Garland, North Carolina, and graduated from Harrells Christian Academy in 2014. He attended Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) where he graduated in 2018 with a degree in UX Design. He was part of the first graduating class at SCAD to receive this degree. While at SCAD, Nolan worked on several collaborative projects for various corporations including, Ford Motor Company and Gulf Stream Aerospace. He also received a “Red Dot Communication Award” for a group project and traveled to Germany to accept this honor. They developed “Seedly”, which was a necklace pod containing a seed and linked to an app that would enable children living in cities to understand the growth process of food. His group was also awarded an Indigo Design Award for this project. He started his career with IBM Corporation and later moved to Microsoft Corporation.
Nolan was an avid video game player and enjoyed interacting with friends online. He had two very special fur friends, Radish and Beets, that were feline rescues. Nolan treated them both like royalty. He also had a special relationship with Slim, his brother’s dog.
Nolan enjoyed spending time with family, especially his siblings, cousins, and friends. One of his best friends, Courtney, describes Nolan in the following way: “By far the most considerate, empathetic, and loving, most consistent soul I’ve ever known”. This statement exemplifies Nolan’s personality and character.
He was an integral part of this family, and his passing will be deeply felt always.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at Parkersburg Baptist Church, located at 190 Reeves Road, Garland, North Carolina. A visitation will occur prior to the service at the church from 3:00 p.m. – 3:50 p.m. The burial will immediately follow the service at The Melvin Cemetery, located at the church. The service will be officiated by Pastor Carey Horrell and Pastor Ronnie Grizzle.
Immediately following the service, a meal will be served at 1440 Parkersburg Road, Garland, North Carolina.
