Ruth Johnson

Ruth Johnson, beloved homemaker and cherished matriarch, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025, at the Hope Mills Retirement Center in Hope Mills, North Carolina. Born on November 3, 1928, in Sampson County, NC, Ruth was a beacon of love and strength throughout her life.

As a dedicated homemaker, Ruth devoted her life to nurturing her family and creating a warm, welcoming home for her loved ones. Her caring nature and unwavering support were felt by all who knew her. Ruth's legacy is a testament to the values of love, compassion, and resilience that she instilled in her family.

Ruth is survived by her four sisters: Ann Boone of Hope Mills, NC; Bessie Underwood (Joseph) of Clinton, NC; Phyllis Alston of Garland, NC; and Fannie Monk of Philadelphia, PA. She also leaves behind her brother, James Johnson (Annie) of Queens, NY, alongside her cherished grandchildren: Bridgett Green, Terri Johnson, Leslie Johnson, and Kim Johnson, as well as several great-grandchildren who will carry forward her spirit.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde William Johnson, and her son, Harrell Rudy Johnson. She was also predeceased by her parents, Bessie and Graham Johnson, as well as several siblings: Dorothy Johnson; Joyce Warren; Inez Robinson; Naomi Muzzccua, Percy P. Johnson; Harry L. Johnson; and Richard Johnson.

Her family and friends remember Ruth as a remarkable woman whose gentle spirit touched the lives of many. She will be dearly missed but fondly remembered for her unconditional love and the indelible mark she left on the hearts of those she encountered.

A Viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from 1:00-5:00 PM, at Carter Funeral Home, 111 N. Ingold Ave., Garland, NC.

The Funeral Service will be at 12:00 noon, on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Garland First Baptist Church, 227 East 4th St., Garland, NC, with the Reverend Dr. Louis Hackett officiating the service.

Interment to follow at the Garland Community Cemetery, 203 Hill Circle Road, Garland, NC.
