Savannah Alice Hawkins, born on February 7, 2008, in Norfolk, VA, left this world far too soon on January 17, 2026, in Rose Hill, NC. She was a beacon of energy and promise, lighting up the lives of everyone who crossed her path with her radiant spirit and infectious laughter.
Savannah, known for her intelligence, courage, and loving nature, was an 11th grader with dreams that sparkled vividly on her horizon. Her ambitions leaned towards a career in engineering, fueled by her exceptional intellect and unyielding determination. She envisioned a future not just filled with career accomplishments, but also with love, marriage, and the family she so dearly cherished.
A stunningly beautiful soul, Savannah had an unwavering zest for life. She was not just a student; she was a quintessential adventurer who found joy in the simplest of moments. Her heart was intertwined with the love of animals; she took immense pride in learning to care for farm animals, an endeavor that brought her closer to the earth and enriched her spirit.
Her interests were as unique as her personality. From her love of roses, anime, and photography to the joy she discovered in playing video games with her brothers, each hobby illustrated the brilliance of her character. Shared moments with family—filled with laughter and love—were treasures that formed the invisible string connecting her to those she adored.
Savannah is survived by her loving mother Tabatha Austin, stepfather Justin Austin, and siblings Majenta Collins, Dakota Souder, Damian Tacha, Jeremiah Austin, Joshua Darby, and Arianna Adams. Her maternal grandmother, Dorilda Dubois, along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, also stood by her side during her beautiful journey through life. The family expanded with her treasured nieces, Nikole and Hallie, and her nephews, Noah, Hayden, Oaklee, and Hayle, who looked up to her with admiration and love.
Savannah leaves behind a vast array of friends and family who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. Among those are her uncle Craig Theriault, aunts Lisa Lindstead, Shawna and Tammy Dubois, Giselle & Nick, Ruby & Angel Adorno, as well as Lorenda and Anthony Gandy. And her father Darryl Gandy remained vital to her, she also cherished the memories of her uncle Peter Theriault, Jean Gandy and Cleveland Gandy, who preceded her in death.
The memories of Savannah's life resonate through the fabric of all who knew her. Those treasured moments—the laughter, the smiles, and the love—will endure as a radiant memorial to the extraordinary young woman who graced our lives. Her boundless spirit and indomitable courage will continue to inspire everyone she touched, reminding us of the beauty of connection and the enduring power of love.
