Walter Lee Evans, known affectionately as Lee, passed away on October 29, 2025, in Cumberland County, NC. He was born on August 9, 1953, in Sampson County, NC. A highly skilled contractor and engineer, Lee had a remarkable talent for creating and building homes, as well as constructing bridges for the state. His contributions to the field showcased not only his technical prowess but also his passion for creating lasting structures that served communities.
Lee was deeply devoted to his family, cherishing moments spent with his loved ones. His vibrant personality shone through in his love for the outdoors, where he found joy in fishing and hunting. Lee’s creative spirit was evident in all that he did, whether he was working on a project or enjoying time in nature.
He is survived by his son, Graham Evans of Harrells, NC; his brother, Tim Evans, and wife Amy of Wade, NC; and his sister, Elizabeth Faircloth of Harrells, NC.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Evans and Thelma Faye Smith Evans; his beloved wife, Debbie Mote Evans; and his son, Jason Lee Evans.
Visitation will be held on November 5, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Riverside Baptist Church in Harrells, NC. A graveside service will follow at Riverside Baptist Church Cemetery at 3:00 PM.
Walter Lee Evans leaves behind a legacy of dedication, love for family, and an indomitable spirit that touched the lives of many. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
