William David Billups, born on February 15, 1957, in Bladen County, North Carolina, passed away at Bladen County Hospital in Elizabethtown, NC, on May 27, 2025. Known fondly by the nickname "Bimbo," William lived a life marked by hard work and dedication, primarily in the construction and farming industries.
William is survived by two daughters: Hilliary Causey of Jacksonville, NC, and Caroline Coats, along with her husband Braxton, of Pawley's Island, SC. He also leaves behind his mother, Ida Mae Suggs of Elizabethtown, NC, and three sisters: Barbara Jackson of Elizabethtown, NC, Kay Merritt and her husband Perry of White Lake, NC, and Karen Billups of Elizabethtown, NC. Additionally, he is survived by two brothers: Larry Billups and his wife Celia of Elizabethtown, NC, and Barry Billups and his wife Vickie, also of Elizabethtown, NC. He was a proud grandfather to three grandchildren: Alyssa Causey, Cooper Causey, and Gabriel Coats, along with a host of nieces and nephews who cherished him.
Preceding him in death were his beloved wife, Delilah R. Billups, and his father, William E. Billups.
The family will receive friends on May 29, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Briar Branch Baptist Church located on Lula Long Road in Elizabethtown, NC. After the service, interment will be in the Briar Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. Pastors Jim Woodruff & Carlton Bryan will be officiating the services.
William’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, touched by his thoughtful nature, his love of food, and his unwavering commitment to his family and work. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
