Aretha “Shawnne” Labelle Newkirk, 53, of 408 Douglass Ave., Roseboro passed away Monday, August 02, 2021 at Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton.

Aretha was born January 10, 1968 in Sampson County to Sadie Newkirk. Mrs. Newkirk worked in the Health Care Industry as an Inventory Specialist. She is preceded in death by her father: Levy Crumpler.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, August 06, 2021 at Roseboro-Snowhill Cemetery, Marion-Amos Road, Roseboro, NC. The Reverend Sedric Bryant will be officiating.

Aretha leaves to cherish her memory husband: Bertice Rich Jr. of Roseboro, daughter: Cree Newkirk of Roseboro, mother: Sadie Newkirk of Roseboro, maternal grandmother: Sadie Johnson of Garland, sister: Della Mervin of Apex, special sister: Theresa Evans of Greensboro, godson: William Patrick of Roseboro, two grandchildren: Tyler Patrick of Roseboro; Zane Patrick of Roseboro, stepdaughter: Shaja Rick of Roseboro, stepson: Jaysha Rich of Roseboro, two sister-in-laws: Mary Rich of Long Island, NY; Melinda Rich of Fayetteville, father-in-law: Bertice Rich Sr. of Fayetteville, mother-in-law: Mary Fennell of Clinton and two brother-in-laws: David Fennell of Clinton; Charles Parker of Garland. 

A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 05, 2021 from 1:00-6:00 PM at Carter Funeral Home in Garland. The family will be present from 5:00-6:00 PM.
