Cloyce Lockerman Pope, age 90, formerly of 5270 Garland Highway, Clinton, Sampson County, North Carolina passed away peacefully at Trinity Grove Nursing Home in Wilmington, North Carolina on February 14, 2022.
She was an active member of Epworth United Methodist Church for all of her adult life and a Sunday School teacher for approximately 50 years.
Cloyce loved the beach and collecting seashells. She also loved collecting angels, doing cross-stitching, crocheting, and giving much of these crafts to others.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, John C. Pope. She was also predeceased by her parents Worth B. Lockerman and Daris Royal Lockerman and her brother Rexford Lockerman, all of Salemburg, North Carolina.
She is survived by her four children, Judy Peterson (Jim) of Birmingham, Alabama, Deborah Bass (Berry) of Oak Island, North Carolina, Rex Pope (Denise) of LaRue, Texas and Pandora Merritt (Gene) of Wilmington, North Carolina. She is survived by one sister, LaRue Chuman (Tom) of Bath, North Carolina, and one nephew, Andy Elliott (Becky) of Elizabeth City, North Carolina.
Cloyce is also survived by nine grandchildren: Brent Peterson, Derek Peterson, and Matt Peterson; Andrea Bass Provencher and Geoff Bass; Ryan Pope; Christina Merritt, Trey Merritt, and Ashton Merritt Wrightson. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation is on Friday, February 18, 2022, at Epworth United Methodist Church from 7-9 pm. The funeral will be the next day, February 19, 2022, at Epworth United Methodist Church at 1:00 pm.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Trinity Grove Nursing Home and Lower Cape Fear Life Center Hospice Care for their excellent and loving care.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Methodist Home for Children, 1041 Washington Street, Raleigh, NC 27605, which was her favorite charity.
