Dorether Lesane

Mrs. Dorether Washington Lesane, 87, 616 North Chapel St., St. Pauls, passed away on Friday, September 09, 2022, at Duke Regional Medical Center in Durham, NC.

 Dorether was born March 09, 1935, in Bladen County to the late Armie Washington Sr. and wife Beatrice Long Washington. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband: Billy Lesane, five brothers: Hazel Washington; Carnell Washington; Armie Washington Jr.; Hector Andrews; James Simpson, and one sister: Katie Juanita Richardson. Dorether enjoyed serving the children in our community by working for many years as a school cafeteria worker. 

A Graveside Service will be held at 12:00 PM/Noon, Friday, September 16, 2022, at Clarks Chapel AME Zion Church Cemetery. 

Dorether leaves to cherish her memory two sons: John Junior Lesane of St. Pauls; William Cramer Lesane of Durham, one daughter: Barbara Ann Lesane of Durham, and two sisters: Mary Roberts of Tarheel; Sena Beatrice Washington of Tarheel-formerly of New York City, and one granddaughter: Brittney Nicole Williams of Chesapeake, VA. 

A Viewing will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at Carter Funeral Home in Garland and prior to the service on Friday, September 16, 2022, from 11:00-11:50 AM at the Cemetery.
