Evelyn Rebecca (Herring) Autry

Mrs. Evelyn R. Autry, 88, of 125 Percy Lane, Harrells passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2020 at her residence.

Mrs. Autry was born January 07, 1932 in Sampson County to the late Percy Herring and Pearl E. Williams Herring. She is preceded in death by her husband; Preston Autry, sister; Mary Pridgen, brothers; Rudolph Herring and Allie Lee Herring. Evelyn Autry was under the leadership of the late Rev. Leroy James of Wilmington, NC and the leadership of Pastor Wilbur Mitchell of Wilmington, NC. Evelyn Autry joined Trinity AME Zion Church at an early age and in her later years she joined Tomahawk First Baptist Church, Harrells, NC.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, December 05, 2020 at Tomahawk First Baptist Church Cemetery in Harrells, NC.

Mrs. Autry leaves to cherish her memory one son; Randall Autry, seven daughters; Shellia Scott, Antionette Beatty (David), Glynda Robinson (Julius), Linda Hall (Dwight), Beatrice Autry, Sharon Thomas (Andrew), Teresa Autry (Warren), 2 foster daughters; Linda Newman (William), Loretta Crumpler, 3 brothers; Billy C. Herring (Anne), Gerald Herring (Margaret), William “Bill” Herring (Lisa), 1 sister; Lydia Kerr, 1 brother-in-law; Oscar Autry (Delma), 1 sister-in-law; Barbara Autry, 19 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on Friday, December 04, 2020 from 1:00 – 6:00 PM with the family present from 5:00 – 6:00 PM at Carter Funeral Home, Garland, NC.
