George Wesley Herring

On Sunday, October 13, 2019, George Wesley “GW” Herring peacefully entering into eternal rest at the Pender Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility, Burgaw, North Carolina.

George Wesley Herring was born July 11, 1930, son of the late Lela Carol Herring and William Herring, of Ivanhoe, North Carolina.   GW received his education from Bland High School, Sampson County.   He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and he reunited with Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church after retirement.  He loved commuting around various parts of NC to take in his favorite foods and restaurants.

A graveside service will be held Friday, October 18, 2019 at 1:00 PM Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church Cemetery 240 Pilgrim Rest Church Rd., Harrells, NC, by the Reverend Harvey Robinson.

GW was preceded in death by his son Fred Herring and siblings, Chevis Herring, Ernest Herring, Amey Herring, Remolia Callaway, Robert Lee Herring, Sadie Newkirk, and Nell Beatty.  Leaving to continue on the journey of life without him include his sister, Mrs. Macie Bennerman (Ivanhoe, NC), grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends.
