Illa Pearl (Thorpe) Smith

Mrs. Illa Pearl Smith, 78, of 734 West 2nd St., Garland, passed away Tuesday, October 05, 2021, at UNC Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill.

Illa Pearl was born December 11, 1942, in Sampson County to the late Luther and Daisy Thorpe. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years: Ralph Sanford Smith Sr., five brothers: Odell Thorpe; Lester Thorpe; LJ Thorpe; Ronald Thorpe; Adam Thorpe; and sister: Daisy King.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 09, 2021, at Garland Cemetery in Garland. Reverend Dewey Ball will be officiating the service.

Illa Pearl leaves to cherish her memory two sons: Ralph S. Smith Jr. and wife Rhonda of Garland; Randolph ‘Randy” D. Smith and wife Sheri of Garland, three grandsons: Mickey Smith of Wilmington; Nickey Smith Rocky Point, NC; Chandler Smith of Garland, and three great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on Friday, October 08, 2021, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Carter Funeral Home in Garland.
