James "Bolee" Odell Highsmith

Mr. James “Bolee” Odell Highsmith, of 274 Sandhill Loop Road, Elizabethtown, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at his residence surrounded by loved ones.

James was born October 27, 1943, to the late Norman Highsmith, and his wife, Gertrude Murphy Highsmith. In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by one brother: Robert Lee Highsmith. James enjoyed a long career as a Supervisor for the Kellogg’s Keebler Company.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM, on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at Pleasant Hill Holiness Church, 2020 Johnsontown Road, Elizabethtown, NC. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. Reverend John McKoy will be officiating the service.

A Viewing will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, from 1:00-6:00 PM, with the family present from 5:00-6:00 PM, at Carter Funeral Home, 111 N. Ingold Ave., Garland, NC.

James leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife: Effie Mae Johnson Highsmith of the home, two daughters: Yolanda Lenora Highsmith of the home, Angela Yvette Highsmith (Toriano) of Wendell, NC, one aunt: Marie Henry, three brother-in-law’s: Jessie Johnson, Jr., Harold Johnson, Stevie Johnson (Carole), three sister-in-law’s: Ethel Bradley, Pauline Johnson, Minnie Hawkins, 5 grandchildren: Jamel Highsmith, Randolph Barnes II, Torin Armstrong, Charity Highsmith, Timothy Armstrong, 1 great-grandchild: Melia Turner Highsmith, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

The family will receive friends at the home of Minnie Hawkins, 271 Sandhill Loop Road, Elizabethtown, NC.
