Johnnie "Jimmy" James Moore, Sr.

Mr. Johnnie “Jimmy” James Moore, Sr., 79, of 423 Longview Lake Rd., Garland, passed away, Sunday, April 23, 2023, at his residence.

Jimmy was born June 17, 1943, in Sampson County, to the late Lawyer Moore and his wife Mary Lilla Moore. In addition to his parents, Jimmy is preceded in death by his beloved wife: Jeanette Newkirk Moore, and two sisters: Lula Williams, and Brenda Evans.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, April 30, 2023, at Holy Tabernacle UHC Church, 612 Hall Road, Roseboro. Interment to follow at the Newkirk Cemetery, Wilber Pridgen Road, Harrells. The Rev. Bishop Christopher Brown, Jr. will be officiating the service.

Jimmy leaves to cherish his memory three sons: Jimmy Lee Moore (Mary) of Clinton, Johnnie James Moore, Jr. (Ana), Roger Moore of Clinton, three daughters: Linda Gail Carr of Fayetteville, Jennifer Moore of Roseboro, Melissa Ann Moore of Garland, one brother: Frank Moore of Clinton, and five sisters: Earnestine Howard of Roseboro, Betty Hinton of Maryland, Christine Jones of Clinton, Katherine Moore of Clinton, and Mary Murphy of Durham, 21 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren, including a special grandson: Tyric Rondale Smith of Michigan, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023, from 1:00-6:00 PM, with the family present from 5:00-6:00 PM, at Carter Funeral Home in Garland.
