Mrs. LaRue Evans Pate, 93, died January 11, 2023, at West Bladen Assisted Living, Bladenboro. Preceded in death by her parents: Haywood and Elzora Evans, Garland, NC, husband: Wade L. Pate Sr., sons: Wade L. Pate Jr.; and Arnold Pate, son-in-law: Ray Johnson, all of Garland.
LaRue left to cherish her memories two daughters: Kay Johnson Martin (Thomas) of Bladenboro; Shelia Folk (Steve) of Elizabethtown, one son: Ralph Evans Pate (Leslie) of White Lake, daughter-in-law: Gail Cain Pate of Garland, 5 grandchildren: Melissa Johnson Singletary (Danny) of Bladenboro; Heather Johnson Register (Clay) of White Lake; Melanie Pate Jackson (Bradley) of Autryville; Marsha Pate Williamson of Bladenboro; Daniel Pate (Megan) of Elizabethtown, 8 great-grandchildren with another due in the spring!
LaRue loved the Lord and worked all her life at Cypress Creek Baptist Church until her sickness made her homebound! She served as Sunday School Teacher, WMU director, VBS teacher, sang in the choir and was the fellowship hall custodian for many years! She was an excellent seamstress, a talent she passed on to her granddaughters! She catered many weddings and celebrations for many years and loved craft projects which she did instill in her family! Her crochet skills she shared through classes sponsored by Bladen Community College.
A graveside service will be Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Cypress Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 1321 Old Fayetteville Rd., Garland, at 10:00 AM. Reverend Tom Martin will be officiating the service.
