Mary Catherine (DeVane) Vann

Mrs. Mary Catherine DeVane Vann, 89, of 995 McKoy Loop Rd. Ivanhoe, NC passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at her residence.

Mary was born on February 23, 1935, in Sampson County to the late Willie Council Eugene Douglas DeVane and his wife, Mary Florence Corbett DeVane. In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband: Edgar Russel Vann, 2 daughters: Sharon V. Lee; Angie LeVern Vann, 1 sister: Weo Mae Carr, 5 brothers: Cassell DeVane; Waddell DeVane; Willie Graham DeVane; Morrell DeVane, and James DeVane.

The Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM/noon, Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Royal Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 7660 Ivanhoe Road, Ivanhoe, NC. Interment to follow in the church’s cemetery. Reverend Dr. Michael McKinley will be officiating the service.

Mary leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters: Erica Vann of the home; Jennifer Florence Murphy of Ivanhoe, and April Sky Vann of Raleigh, one son: Michael Vann of Wilmington, 3 sisters: Veatrice Smith of Ivanhoe; Annie Royal Washington (Edward) of Maysville, IN, and Aria Beth Echols of Ivanhoe, 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, and nephews.

A viewing will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024, from 1:00-6:00 PM, at Carter Funeral Home, 111 N. Ingold Ave., Garland.
