Nettie (McDowell) Peterson

Mrs. Nettie McDowell Peterson 85 of 7016 Brecken Ridge Ave. Raleigh, NC, formerly of Hayes Chapel/ Delway Community died, Sunday, March 03, 2019 at her residence.

Mrs. Peterson was born in Sampson County, the daughter of the late Charlie McDowell and Elizabeth Herring McDowell.  She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Peterson Sr., sisters, Pauline Peterson, Lillie M. Austin, Pearl Autry and brother Charlie McDowell.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, March 09, 2019 at Hayes Chapel Baptist Church by the Reverend Alfred Holston.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Peterson is survived by four daughters, Carolyn Peterson of Long Beach, CA, Sarah Woods, Betty Peterson both of Stedman, Mary Ellen Matiukas (David) of Raleigh, NC, two sons, James A. Peterson Jr (Barbara) of Garland, NC, and Jamal Johnson of Fayetteville, NC, one brother, Bert Nichols (Willie Mae) of Bayside, NY, one sister Marie Anderson (Allen) of Elizabethtown, NC eight grandchildren, Robert E. Woods, Jr., Jacinda Corbett (Jeremy), Jeremy Boykin, Monique Boykin, Frederick Hayes, Ashleigh Matiukas, Clayton Matiukas, Reed Matiukas, one great-grandchild, Aubrey Noelle Corbett and a host of nieces and nephews.

A public viewing will be held from 1:00P.M.-6:00P.M. with family present the last hour on Friday, March 08, 2019 at Carter Funeral Home in Garland.  www.carterfh.com
