Shawn Herring

Mr. Shawn Herring was born on August 13, 1966, in Clinton, NC to Marlene Kerr DeVane Herring and the late William Jay Herring.  He departed this life on July 12, 2022.  He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Crosby, brother, Cecil, sisters, Lorraine, and Margaret, Uncle Roy, and Aunt Byrd.

Shawn attended school in Sampson Co and New Hanover Co.  He completed his education in Washington, D.C. where he lived for over twenty years, and resided until the time of his death.  Shawn was a special person who cared deeply for others, especially those who could not do for themselves.  He also had a great love for animals. Shawn was a computer whiz, his favorite pass time was making videos and recording music.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Trinity A.M.E Zion Church, by the Reverend Willie Imes. 

Mr. Herring is survived by his mother, Marlene Herring, his Step-mother, Vivian Crosby, and Cuprise Grimes whom he raised as his own. Special friends, Dr. Bernice Young, Gareth Barksdale, Maria Newman, and Daniel Givens, David Jones, and the staff of Inspire Rehab and Health where he lived for the past three years.

The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall after the service.
