Willarise (Hairr) Powell

Mrs. Willarise Hairr Powell, 76, of 85 Birdie Lane, Garland, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro.

Willarise was born October 16, 1945, in Sampson County to the late Junior & Elouise New Hairr. She enjoyed working for many years as a CNA in the Health Care Industry. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband: William “Willie” Powell, two sons: William Earl “Birdy” Powell, Jr.; and Travis Powell.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM, Thursday, August 18, 2022, in the Garland Cemetery, Garland, NC. The Rev. Jimmy Flowers will be officiating.

Willarise leaves to cherish her memory one daughter: Melindy Hunter and husband Hugh Mac of Chinquapin, NC, two sons: Ricky Powell and wife Lisa of Garland, NC; William Shane Powell of Garland, two sisters: Ann Sessoms of Parkton, NC; Chrystal Hall of Roseboro, NC, seven grandchildren: Amber Powell; Ashley Thompson and husband Zack; Reagan Whaley and husband Carson; Waylon Hunter; Brandon Powell and wife Kelly; Dustin Powell and wife Katrina; Trevor Powell and wife April, and eight great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held prior to the service on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at Carter Funeral Home, from 12:45-2:45 PM.
